Let’s begin with a confession.
I don’t do magic.
But if I could, my first trick would be to make illusions disappear — the ones we’re fed daily through politics, markets, media, and even our own curated self-perceptions.
This Substack doesn’t offer silver bullets or sugar-coated answers.
What it does offer is perspective. Context. A sharp eye for contradiction. And a fondness for asking questions that don’t always yield comfortable replies.
Who am I?
I’m a writer. A Central European soul with just enough history under my belt to make most headlines feel like sequels. I’ve lived through walls being built and walls being torn down. I’ve seen systems change and mindsets stay stubbornly the same.
I write from that liminal space — between East and West, optimism and irony, dream and disillusionment.
Here on Illusions Not Included, you’ll find reflections along three converging lines:
Economics and Politics – stripped of jargon, wrapped in narrative. I’m not here to bore you with bond yields, but to explore the people, power structures, and paradoxes behind the numbers.
Culture and Commentary – on books, films, history, and the strange little corners of our shared imagination.
Current Events, Deconstructed – where the story often lies not in what’s said, but in what’s omitted. Follow the silence, and you’ll often find the truth.
I’m not here to convert you. But if I can make you pause, smile, tilt your head, or simply see something from a new angle — then this page has done its job.
No slogans. No shortcuts.
Illusions not included.
